Who says it’s too early to start furnishing?

The house build hasn’t even started…and we’ve bought our first set of furniture. Too early? Maybe. But who cares!

In an attempt to ‘save money’ this year, Megan and I decided on a ‘no Christmas presents’ for each other rule, and that we’d buy each other something for the new house. So with all the ‘after Christmas Sales’ this year, we came home with our Christmas gifts early…

Developer Approval!

Merry Christmas to us! We received our developer approval on the 24th of December! We pretty much figured this would be the most difficult step of the whole approval process.

Here’s hoping it was.

The entire developer approval took less time than it did to prepare for – 3 days! They had a few questions about our DIY landscape plan, but to be honest they were all pretty superficial questions – show a dotted line for the fence, where will the clothesline go, use the correct terminology. It was all seemingly insignificant questions and in no time flat we got the approval back and now, once Metricon gets back into the office after holidays, it’s off to Blacktown City Council for the last portion of the approval process.

We’re getting closer…

Living in a Golf Community

I’m quite excited to be living in a Golf Community. I golf and, while I’m not great, I plan on making an effort to better my game and meet some like minded neighbours with a similar love of golf. Merry Christmas!

Merry ChristmasMerry Christmas everyone! This year it seems like Christmas is going to be relatively low key. We’re in the process of moving out of our old place, as we need to be out by January 8th, and it seems like all we can think about is being in the new house by Christmas next year. We’re likely to move in some time in September/October next year, which will be just about perfect – it’ll give us a few months to get ready for my family to come visit from the States. While my parents have been out a number of times, it’ll be the first trip out for my brother, my sister-in-law, and my neice.

So, I’m not very good at it, and it’s not necessarily my cup of tea, but Megan is already planning on how to decorate the new house for Christmas next year. While she’s got a great sense for decorating, she HAS already made it known to me that our upstairs front balcony will have a big blow up Santa on it. Over the top? Probably. Expensive? Likely. But what the heck – it’s Christmas isn’t it? What’s wrong with going a bit over the top?

Happy Holidays!

Ok, so here’s the plan

Literally, here are our building plans for the new house. They’re all fairly large files, so instead of overwhelming your internet connection, click the link to download each one.
