Amazing Australian Wildlife

I’ve never had an issue with wildlife – spiders and even snakes never really phased me. Until now. The wildlife here in Australia is completely different than anywhere else I’ve ever lived. While it’s all so diverse, much of it can kill  you – quickly.

Australia, in all its beauty, is a pretty harsh continent. From the Outback, to the tropics up North, this continent isn’t for the faint of hearted. Australia has more species of venomous snakes than any country on earth. In fact, all the snakes found in Tasmania are poisonous (granted, there are only 3). The “champion” of all poisonous snakes in Australia,is the Taipan which is considered 50 times more venomous than the cobra. In fact, Australia has six of the top ten most venomous snakes in the world.

Council Inspection

Fireplace and French Doors

After talking to our inspector at Blacktown Council, we discovered that he was out at the house on Wednesday to do our final inspection, and sign off on the house. Upon arrival at council, I was told that although the RFS had provided written approval which said we didn’t require screens on the bi-fold doors, the doors needed to comply to the table outlined in the RFS document published on their website (that we had discovered about 2 weeks ago and were told that was outdated).

Council Approval issues

Hey all, just a quick update on the whole process. Blacktown Council is taking a lot longer than we had anticipated. Today, we found out why.

After speaking with our customer service manager with Metricon, we discovered they had received a RFI (request for information) regarding the bushfire protection measures that we’ve got in place. Some of the requests are straight forward, while some may prove not to be…

Living in Spain – The world was a different place in 1992

petersens in spain

The world was a different place in 1992. The World Trade Towers in New York City stood proudly, Columbine was the name of an alpine flower and Osama bin Laden was unknown.

It was the year that the Petersen family packed up their earthly belongings and moved to Barcelona, Spain. Tajma our cat was placed lovingly in a carrier and sent to Barcelona on a different flight so as to avoid British quarantine demands and Sheriff and Shasta (the two dogs) were sent to live in Canada and Chico respectively. We were on the adventure of our lives.
