Are you building with Metricon Homes?

Are you building with Metricon Homes? Do you have your own blog that you’d like to share with others who are in a similar situation as you?

I’ve gathered a pretty pathetic list of people building with Metricon Homes over on our links page, and would like to add to this list. If you’re interested in having your blog listed on our site, and ours on yours, either drop me a line over on our about us page or add a comment to the end of this post.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

    HI guys,

We are nearing the end of our build with Metricon (Laguna 36 knock down rebuild in Sydney), but have almost 100 blog entries on the process so far ;)

Would love a link on your site – your blog is on my blogroll :)

Also in my blogroll there are a number of fellow Metricon build bloggers (metricon must love us SO much..)

  2. Craig says:

    Hi Stefan and Megan,

Like Shayne we too are nearing the end of a Sydney-based Metricon build (Newhaven 33+) and have been following the build of your fantastic home and the battles you’ve waged with Metricon and council with great interest.

I think for prospective customers in Sydney/NSW, the experiences described in our blogs are invaluable given that they are still building up market share here, and also since the processes/timescales/management of the build varies when compared to the Metricon builds we read about in Queensland and Victoria.

I am not sure that the final summary of our experiences with Metricon will represent something their marketing & customer relations departments would be entirely pleased to read. ;) However it’s not all bad, and we are reserving “final judgement” until we’ve had our PCI/handover experience in the weeks ahead.

    Craig & Sandrine.

    Hi Stefan

My husband and I have been building a metricon nevarda 38 in Melbourne. I have a blog that while haven’t been quite as up to date i do have all the photos of our house build and some comments on the process there for others to follow.

It has been valuable reading other peoples experiences with Metricon and have learnt myself a lot of the pitfalls in dealing with them.

I have to say that our experience with Metricon has not been all that enjoyable and rather stressful. They have been quite frankly one of the most unorganised companies i have ever worked with. We have had so many things redone and sometimes things redone 3 times( they don’t learn from mistakes).

However in all the frustration we have got a lovely home that we will be moving into over the next week or so. Fingers crossed they have fixed everything over the last few days.

    Have enjoyed reading your blogs.

Thanks all for your comments. I’ve added you to the blogroll. It too, has been helpful for us to be able to follow and watch other builds at similar stages to ours. I feel as if it helps us keep Metricon honest and provides some sort of guidance through the whole process. After all, it’s not like we build a home on a regular basis. I’d assume most people are relatively new to this process.

    Hi Guys,

My husband & I are new to blogging and have only jet started our building journey with Metricon. We are in contract stage to build a Nelson 43 in inner Melbourne.

We are following lots of blogs but there aren’t many at the early stage like us that we have found so far.

    Thanks heaps

  6. Kirsten says:

    Megan and Stefan,
We have but commenced the build process with Metricon and after reading a number of blogs we decided to write our own. Would appreciate it if it our blog could be listed on your links page.

Have learned so much from you guys – thanks so much for taking us through your journey building a Metricon home. We have just started building a Liberty 42 in NSW – the slab has just gone down, and are keen to share our experiences too. We’d be really grateful if you could add our blog to your links page:

    Hi Stefan,

We are about to commence building with Metricon in Melbourne. We are building the Fairhaven 33 on an existing block in the Eastern Suburbs. We’ve found blogs invaluable in clarifying the build process so far and to get a feel for timelines. Would love to be listed on your site and vice versa.

    Hi Megan and Stefan,

We’ve been following your blog for some time now and have learned a lot from what we’ve read from your building blog. We’ve recently just started building a Liberty 42 (Chateau), as well, down here in Melbourne and also started a blog to record our building journey with Metricon and share our experiences. Reading your blog and others’ who have gone down this path before building with Metricon have been quite invaluable and enlightening in that we find the answers to our questions here that can’t be readily found or given elsewhere. We took the liberty of adding your blog into our list of blogs we follow, and we’d love to have ours listed on yours.

    Our blog address is:

    Hi Stefan and Megan,
Thanks for a great blog on the Metricon home. We are planning to build the same house you guys have built. We haven’t yet met up with Metricon.

Do you have any suggestions in terms of specific questions or request that we should ask Metricon at the initial meeting? Do you know whether their upgrades/prices are negotiable?

    Binh and Anne

  11. Paul says:

Avoid Metricon at all costs ..they are rogues and con men….aka filth…

  12. pattie says:

Yes we are in the middle of building with Metricon and have found so many faults and are told so many lies its not funny. We have quite a number of concerns and are trying to resolve these issues.

  13. Sarah says:

    Hi Stefan and Megan,

Congratualtions on coming to the end of your build. Grant and I have just started.

  15. Jasmine says:

Hi, I have literally just started a blog (yesterday) about our build with Metricon which was almost 3 yrs ago now. We are currently fighting Metricon via the Building Services Authority in QLD to have them carry out there 25yr structural warranty and repair our foundations and cosmetic damage to our house.

I’m blogging a) to get all my anger out in a healthy way; b) as a record of what happened and c) to share with others in the hope customers are fully informed before choosing to build with Metricon QLD.

I’m a busy mum of two under two, so I havent had a chance to read your whole blog yet, but I’d love to be linked to you guys and others supporting the cause!

we are thinking of building with metricon but am scared after hearing and reading all blogs the stuff that goes or can go wrong with them

  17. myviace says:

Hi guys, we’re building with metricon. Almost at contract stage now. We’ve finalised the changes and variance to the floor plan. We haven’t done the colour selection and what not at studio M. At this stage, the sales person encourage us to go into contract and do the studio M at later stage. Is this normal?

  18. Stefan says:

Same thing happened with us. We were told to do all our colour selections once our contracts were finalised.

  19. Theresa Ford says:

I paid the initial deposit in Feb 2014 and I am being told contracts are not ready to be signed and it will be May before they are ready and building wont start till maybe June more than likely July, when I orginally went into the sale office I was told the build would start late May early June, I am thinking of pulling out before contract and going with someone else if this is the customer service and lies I am already getting.
