Dog owners get more exercise

Jake walking at Stonecutters RidgeDog owners get more exercise, provided they actually walk their dogs, according to a new study.

The study examined 5,902 responses from the 2005 Michigan Behavioral
Risk Factor Survey. Of the 41 percent who were dog owners, 61 percent of
respondents said they walked their dogs at least 10 minutes at a time
and 27 percent said they walked their dogs at least 150 minutes a week.

“78% of statistics are made up on the spot.”

Slow news day? It’s true though – having Jake has helped us keep up the exercise, even during our busiest of days. A half hour walk around the neighbourhood has helped us stay fitter than we would otherwise, as well as meet some of our new neighbours (and neighbourhood canines)!

Dog walkers is a great way to increase exercise –
