Metricon’s lack of communication

It’s been awhile since our last update, but it’s not for the sake of trying. I’ve been sick with a cold (damn this cold winter weather!), and unfortunately not much has been happening in our neck of the woods either.

In a previous post we shared a bit of insight into our 90 day inspection which was, in reality, more of a 150 day inspection. We were in the house for almost five months before the inspector even made it out to the house and when inspection day finally came, everything seemed to be in order and the issues acknowledged by the builder. It fact, quite a few of the smaller issues were fixed within two weeks, but to our disappointment, it has all come to a grinding halt since then.

Many of the larger issues, such as warped doors, remain unaddressed and our calls to Metricon have gone unanswered. While I can assume that their inspectors are in fact very busy, three calls and as many voicemail messages have gone unanswered. At the very least, I’d expect a call saying they’re running behind schedule but we’re still on the radar. Sadly, nothing.

Are they hoping we’ll let the issues slide?

Not us. You’d think they’d know that by now.

Was your builder responsive to your questions and concerns?

same story here. Had 3 month inspection, most items fixed… the one thing remaining is a warped cavity door frame, and we’ve been in about 7 months now. However, I did get a call out of the blue last week, saying our service manager just left, and this new guy was pickuing up all the pieces. So, I figure another 7 months or so until maybe this doorframe is fixed.

Sounds like you guys are experiencing the same problems that we are. Have you had any luck getting the items repaired now that Metricon finally got back to you?

Hi Stefan, great website, very informative..we are building with Metricon, build has not started yet, just signed prelim contract, we have quite a few cavity sliding doors do you recommend we change them to a normal opening door. Seems that they can’t get the cavity ones right .

Hi Chrissie, we have cavity doors for our pantry, and had to get them fixed as part of the 90 day inspection. I love them, especially now that they roll correctly. The one issue that we came across was the ability to run stuff like the ducted vacuum in the adjoining walls.
