Painting a feature wall

Feature WallWe’ve got a feature wall! After months of deliberation around which walls we wanted to be a feature in different rooms, we finally got around to doing a little bit of painting. That’s of course the ‘royal we’, as Megan can’t be in the same room room, due to being pregnant. But, the end result looks pretty good considering I’m not much of a painter.

We elected to do the feature walls ourselves, as Metricon was going to charge us $250/wall to do the painting. Sure, it doesn’t sound like much, but when your ‘nice to have’ list  is over a page long, you start crossing off the things you think you can do yourself. It doesn’t hurt to save a little bit either.

For our living room, we decided on the Dulux colour “Harold”. It’s a dirty brown colour that has a bit of a green tint to it, which works well with “White Duck 1/2 strength”, the standard wall colour throughout the house. It wasn’t an uninformed decision to go with this colour. If this sounds familiar, you’re not imagining things. It’s the same colour on the the same wall in the Liberty display home at The Ponds.
