Are you a dog owner trying to find the best place to take your pup for a bit of exercise? If you haven’t made it to Rowland Reserve at Pittwater yet, you’re missing out.
Dozens of dogs can’t be wrong – this place is great. Megan & I try to get Jake out to Rowland Reserve, located in Bayview at least a few times every summer. Despite the hour drive each way, we thoroughly enjoy watching him run, play, and swim with the countless other dogs that socialise here every day. Even we get a little bit of conversation with like minded dog owners during our stay.
With an hour free parking for you and your pup, there’s really no reason to not treat your dog to the outing – especially considering they’ve got a mobile coffee stand that shows up in the mornings to keep everyone bright eyed and bushy tailed. And if you’re worried about getting your car dirty on the trip home, there’s a regular mobile dog wash that charges a reasonable $20 for a full wash and dry so your pup is not only happy, but clean when they get home. (They’ll sleep for the rest of the day too!)
Here’s a few tips to enjoy your day at Rowland Reserve:
1. Like anywhere else in Australia, bring (and wear) sunscreen. There isn’t a lot of shade.
2. The north side of the beach is shallower and doesn’t have a steep drop-off. Perfect for the smaller dogs.
3. The weekends have a mobile dog wash. With a big dog like Jake, it’s the best $20 I’ve ever spent.
I hope you enjoy this special area of Sydney as much as we do. And if you see us out there, be sure to say hello!
