Stonecutters Ridge Development Update – May 2010

Stonecutters Ridge Opening Sign

With the build moving along at a quick pace, it’s nice to see that the golf course and Stonecutters Ridge is moving along just as fast. Homes all around the development are flying up, and available land has become scarce! Here’s a few updates I’ve come across over the past few weeks that may be of interest!

1. New signs have gone up around the neighbourhood, officially advertising the opening of all 18 holes of the golf course in “Early 2011″. Whether that’s February, March, or beyond is still up in the air, but what we do know is that all 18 holes will be finished being shaped/built by October, and the development will be using the summer months to let the fairways/greens/tee boxes grow in appropriately.

2. The first six holes (2-7) are all but finished, and will be opening in two months time. While play will be limited to residents of Stonecutters Ridge only, it will at least allow me to improve my game a bit – before the surround golf guru’s kick me off the course for being a terrible golfer.

3. We spoke to Mark in the sales office last weekend and it looks like the old RAAF Station Schofields across Eastern Creek has been zoned for commercial redevelopment, and a new shopping centre, similar to the Rouse Hill Town Centre is on the books. While it is in the early planning stages, it looks to have gotten the go-ahead from Blacktown Council. It won’t be as big as Rouse Hill Town Centre, but it will surely help assist the substantial growth and gentrification that the North West area is undergoing.

4. Lots have become quite scarce, with around 10 lots left in the existing releases. The sales office estimates that the next release (lots behind the Lily Pilly release), will be released in just a matter of weeks!

So that’s what’s happening in our neck of the woods. Hope everyone’s build is going smoothly, and those that are looking forward to golfing at Stonecutters Ridge – it’s not long off!

See you on the course!

    Megan & Stefan,

I have just read your blog – from the beginning of your build process to this post – thank you so much for documenting everything for everyone to see. We started the process with Metricon, (building on the South Coast of NSW) at the end of January – and our plans aren’t even with Council yet… Things seem to take such a long time, but after reading your blog, I have a better idea of things and know what the norm is! I have done a lot of research over the last week and to see yours, and the other peoples posts about building Metricon homes in NSW, is extremely refreshing and reassuring. I can’t wait to see your progress over the coming months!

We also wanted to build the Liberty, but as our block is sloping, it couldn’t be done… so I’m a bit jealous – and can’t wait to see pics of yours finished!

    Hi Lauren,

Glad to hear it’s helping you with the start of your build process. The purpose of the blog was really two fold – sharing the build with my friends and family overseas, and allowing us to share and discuss our experiences with people who are in a similar situation. Be sure to check back, and let me know if you start a blog documenting your progress as well. I’d love to see it!

It must be exciting to watch everything coming together. I am hopeful that maybe you got the worst of your building glitches out at the beginning an they are now behind you now. Keep those photos coming!

    Thanks Kriss!

It’s definitely exciting to watch the house build up, rather than out (or better yet, no progress). Hopefully all the glitches are behind us, and it’s smooth sailing from here. Photos will DEFINITELY keep coming. ;)

Hi Megan & Stefan, love the blog – I found you through the homeone website as were thinking about building with Metricon also. We want to build the Liberty 38 but unfortunately we can’t due to our council’s floor space ratio, so it looks like we may be going with the Laguna. Keep up the great posts – can’t wait to follow your process.

  6. Stefan says:

    Hi Sami,
Thanks for the kind words. There’s a few Liberty blogs out there, but it’s always great to see other’s progress when building the same home – sharing stories and tips. H1 is a great resource, for sure.

I have just stumbled across your website and it is great. My husband and I are building with Cosmopolotian in Kirkwood Cres. They are just up to the bricking stage. It was really great to see your progress. We are usually out and about on weekends at our house and playground so hopefully we may catch up then and meet some more neighbours.

We bought an awesome block in t/wood after lots of research, s/ridge will be the premier address in norwest syd, Bella vista waters is nice with big homes etc but other than the centre it has no features unlike this wonderful address. btw, your house will be awesome overlooking the course…

    Sharon & Nigel,

Thanks for the king words. The development is really coming together and through the weekends we’ve spent around the neighbourhood and through this site, we’ve met some really nice neighbours. I hope this continues, and look forward to meeting you as well.

    Cheers!
