The cost of living in a bushfire prone area

This past weekend, when I was relaxing in front of the television, firefighters were out battling bush fires across the state and across the country. Homes were being lost and lives uprooted. To prevent, or at least reduce the likelihood of this becoming an all too common sight Australia, and the State of NSW have implemented new building codes in bushfire prone areas. Espresso, at a price

I like coffee. No, I LOVE coffee. My morning isn’t complete without at least one cup. My espresso maker is a godsend. I have personalised coffee mugs. Two of them. And what’s best, is I haven’t been to a Starbucks in over a year.

So about a year ago I purchased (with quite a bit of convincing required with Megan) an espresso machine. It was one of the best investments I’ve ever made ( I mean we). I have no idea how much money I’ve saved by not going out to get coffee, but look – we’re able to build a house!

Visualise 2.0

In an attempt to try and truly visualise what our house may look like once it has been completed, I’ve scoured the web to try and find a truly accurate representation of our colour scheme. Seeing as Metricon is one of the largest builders in Australia (though relatively new to NSW), I’ve stumbled upon a number of building blogs similar to ours.

One in particular, “The Humble Fortress” has built a Liberty 38 (same layout, slightly smaller) and have chosen a colour scheme almost identical to what we’ve settled on…
