Gingerbread Extravangza

Gingerbread HousesWith the family here, and the Holiday celebrations in full swing, there’s nothing like the taste, smell, and sight of a well decorated gingerbread house to put you in the mood for Christmas.

Thanks to an amazing neighbour, the women and children of the neighbourhood got together and went to town decorating these pre-made gingerbread houses to within an inch of their lives. Some extravagant, but all delicious, these houses won’t stand a chance. They’ll be gone by the end of the week I’m sure.

Tiling and Painting

Kitchen Backsplash

After great coffee and great conversation with two of our future neighbours, we made our way to the house again today – something that has become our Saturday ritual. Arriving to Stonecutters Ridge, we found our house a flurry with activity. Both the tilers AND the painters were on site working away – making the house look like a home! We weren’t the only ones. Another of our future neighbours across the street had a team of tradies on site laying wire mesh in preparation for their slab to be poured next week. So much is happening in the neighbourhood, now that the weather has warmed up!

We’ve got neighbours!

Next door NeighboursToday, we were notified by Medallist sales consultants that our neighbours on the lot to our left have settled on the land. Now, it’s only a matter of time until they start the same process we’ve been going through for the last five months.

Whether they start building straight away or at some time in the future, we look forward to getting to know our future neighbours soon. While there’s a bit of business that will need to be looked after, such as the split cost of fencing, the more exciting part for us is getting to know the family who will likely be next door for years to come.

It’s nice to see the neighbourhood growing too – just this weekend we spent most of Sunday out at Stonecutters Ridge with a number of our future neighbours. I’m happy to say I look forward to living near these wonderful people. Whether it’s because we’re all going through similar experiences in our lives (ie. building a home), or we’re just that lucky, it’s very apparent that Stonecutters Ridge will be become a¬†close-knit¬†community. I’m sure the community website helps too. It has allowed us to interact with fellow “Stonecutters Ridgers” before anyone actually moves in.

Cool, huh?

Do you get along with your neighbours?

Making Stonecutters Ridge a community

There’s a lot to be said about getting to know your neighbours and making your neighbourhood a close-knit community. I think Stonecutters Ridge is well on its way.

After putting our heads together over at the Stonecutters Ridge thread at Home1, future and existing residents of Stonecutters Ridge decided it would be worthwhile and beneficial to have a community website and forum that catered to those who will live at Stonecutters Ridge.

Guttering finished, and a Liberty invasion!

Stonecutters Ridge Golf Course

Another good weekend.

After meeting with our site supervisor on Friday, and seeing the start of our guttering installation, we opted for a quick trip back out to Stonecutters Ridge, as we were out running errands already. A relatively quick, and unassuming trip, turned into a rather interesting day!
